Match Pay Payments: You Quid My Pro, I’ll etc…

an image of a deck of playing cards and an unlit match advising to get your match paid

Match Pay connects bettors who want to send money from popular money apps to online sportsbooks and vice-versa. That’s the simple process driving Matchpay, the peer-to-peer banking method for us sportsbooks like Bovada.lv (⇠ link to our Bovada review).

Say you’ve got $200 in Cash App you want to bet on the game tonight. Post your order on MatchPay and MatchPay connects you with someone with $200 in their Bovada cashier who wants their money in their Cash App (or Venmo, or another popular money app). Both of you agree, you send your money, you paid, they send theirs, your match paid, et voila (or badabing, or whatever your preferred terminology).

Match Pay connects bettors whose money needs to travel from similar destinations in opposite directions. No buying Bitcoin first, no converting it back afterward, and no MatchPay (⇠ link to our more in-depth MatchPay guide ) transaction fee. That process alone can often cost you a good chunk in exchange fees.

That alone Match Pay useful when you would rather use Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal than move money through a crypto exchange.

The only variable you can’t control on Match Pay is whether you’ll get a match paid fast enough for your satisfaction. I’ll share tips on how to improve your success rate below.

What Is Match Pay—and How Does Match Pay Work?

MatchPay.com is a peer-to-peer credit marketplace. At a participating sportsbook such as Bovada, depositing means buying credits from another user; withdrawing means selling your credits to someone depositing. The cash travels between your payment accounts. MatchPay coordinates the credit exchange and confirms both you and your match paid. Consequently, using Venmo through MatchPay does not mean sending money to a sportsbook’s Venmo account: you pay your matched seller.

Match Paid Sign Up and App Access

Start through your sportsbook’s cashier. To use MatchPay at Bovada (⇠ link to our MatchPay Bovada primer), select Match Pay, then “Join Now.” Provide your name, birth date, the email associated with your Bovada account, and a phone number. Create your login, verify the SMS code, and activate the email confirmation. Choose your MatchPay ID carefully: it is case-sensitive and cannot be changed afterward.

The Match Pay app handles matching and confirmations; your chosen payment app handles the money. Start with the cashier link. Have your payment account ready before accepting a trade. Registering for Cash App while another bettor’s transaction timer runs is poor preparation.

How to Use Match Pay to Deposit

Select Deposit, choose Match Pay, and create an Order for the amount you want. Choose the supported payment methods you actually have.

Suppose you order $200 using Cash App. Once a seller accepts, send $200 to the recipient identified in the trade, then confirm that you sent it. The seller verifies receipt, completing the exchange that funds your sportsbook deposit. Sending money is not the final step; the trade must be completed. Return to the sportsbook and verify the deposit has posted.

One important note: MatchPay deposits are typically exempt from bonuses unless the promotion specifically includes them. Check that before making a deposit you’re counting on claiming a bonus for.

Withdrawing: Create an Offer, Then Collect

For withdrawals, select Match Pay in the sportsbook cashier and request the amount. After approval, the credits become available to sell. Create an Offer, select your payment methods, and accept a suitable match. The buyer sends money to you. Check your payment account, then confirm receipt to complete the trade.

An approved withdrawal sitting in MatchPay is still credits, not money already delivered to your bank. You must sell those credits first. Bovada displays your separate Match Pay credit balance beneath your withdrawable balance, so you can track what remains unsold.

You can also sell part of a withdrawal. With $300 in approved credits, you could offer $100 and sell the remaining $200 separately. Bovada permits two Match Pay withdrawals within a rolling 24-hour period; creating smaller offers from existing credits is different from requesting additional sportsbook withdrawals.

How Long Does Match Pay Take?

A responsive match can complete in minutes. However, sportsbook approval, finding a buyer or seller, and receiving payment are separate stages. “Instant” does not mean every withdrawal reaches your payment app immediately after you request it.

MatchPay’s published trade sequence allows five minutes to accept a match, eight minutes for payment, and five minutes to confirm receipt. Keep notifications on and stay available. No match? Add another supported payment method you already use, adjust the amount before a trade starts, or return later. These changes widen your possibilities; none guarantees an available counterparty.

MatchPay itself adds no transaction fee. Moving received money from Cash App to your bank is separate: its free standard transfer generally takes one to three business days, while an optional instant transfer carries a fee.

Is Match Pay Legit—and Is Match Pay Safe?

MatchPay is a legitimate payment option integrated into Bovada’s cashier. Safe use comes down to adhering to MatchPay’s guidelines and keeping the transaction and communication within the app and sportsbook cashier. Complete and confirm the actual transaction—not by trusting a message from the other party saying it happened but by verifying it in MatchPay.

Never confirm receipt until the money is available in your own payment account. A screenshot from the other party is not your balance. Use the payment details inside the trade, keep communication there, and use “Report a Problem” when payment and confirmation do not line up.

Fund before you need to place a bet, not with two minutes until kickoff. A payment method that depends on another person can’t promise to work on the game clock.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Match Pay work?

To deposit, you buy credits from another user and pay them through a supported service such as Cash App, Venmo, or PayPal. To withdraw, you sell approved sportsbook credits to a matched buyer, who sends money to your payment account. The money moves between users—not directly between your payment app and the sportsbook.

How long does Match Pay take?

There is no guaranteed total turnaround time for an order at Match Pay to complete. It could be faster than any other method if your order is matched immediately and your match is on the ball. Or it could be slower than any other method if you have to wait to find a match, or wait for them to finish dinner at Oma’s.

Does Match Pay charge fees?

Beautifully, no. MatchPay doesn’t charge transaction fees for posting orders or buying or selling credits. A $100 order gets you $100. That fee-free exchange is one of Match Pay’s attractions for bettors.

Is MatchPay legit and safe to use?

MatchPay is a legitimate payment option integrated into Bovada’s cashier. The essential precaution is to confirm receipt only after the money is available in your own payment account, not because someone sends a screenshot. Use the trade’s “Report a Problem” button when payment and confirmation do not match

What should I do when MatchPay can’t find a match?

Add another supported payment method you already use, or split your order into several smaller amounts. Matching depends on another user accepting your amount and payment method; and you’re likelier to find more matches with smaller oders
