Matchpay is Fast, Free, & Sorta Easy For Banking

an image depicting the matchpay app and the text matchpay makes payments easy

MatchPay is a free service that lets bettors deposit and withdraw quickly and easily via credit swaps with other players using payment services such as Venmo, PayPal, Zelle and Cash App. It goes like this: you want to deposit $100, and MatchPay connects you with a bettor who wants to withdraw $100. You send that person the money through a supported payment service—ApplePay, Zelle, Venmo for example—and receive credits which you then use for your deposit. That’s the arrangement. Simple, but admittedly the idea that payments and withdrawals to/from your sportsbook involve another person can take some getting used to. What makes this arrangement easy is that MatchPay acts as a third, bringing the two sides together and managing the trade.

How Secure & Safe is MatchPay?

MatchPay isn’t an escrow service. It doesn’t guarantee the funds end-to-end. What MatchPay does—in the event there is an issue— is it provides a record, a way to challenge a failed trade, and acts as a disinterested third party to resolve disputes. MatchPay assumes a ceretain amount of good faith among it’s users, who have a mutual interest.

But humans aren’t perfect, and without the third party it would be too easy for transactions to fall apart. MatchPay acts as that third. If the buyer claims to have paid but you haven’t received anything—or you’ve paid and the seller won’t acknowledge it—you can report the problem. Support reviews the trade and its chat transcript, may request payment screenshots and account activity, and will settle the dispute to one side or the other.

Ultimately, while MatchPay doesn’t guarantee payments, it’s authority and security are practical: reserved credits, a controlled trade process, transaction records and support with authority to resolve credit disputes. And after thousands of successful transactions, MatchPay has established that its system works.

Why Use MatchPay?

MatchPay appeals to bettors who want to move their money without paying fees along the way. Crypto exchanges can charge for buying, selling and withdrawing cryptocurrency; MatchPay transactions carry no added fees—either with Bovada or MatchPay itself—so there’s no cut taken from the amount you trade.

Speed is another attraction: if MatchPay quickly finds a buyer for your credits, you could receive payment to your preferred payment app (eg Venmo or Cash App) faster than any other banking method available – including crypto That makes it potentially the cheapest and fastest route to deposits and payouts. The qualification is the wait for a match—quick payment depends on another user being ready to trade.

How MatchPay works

Using MatchPay For Deposits:

We’ll use Bovada for this example:

  • In Bovada’s cashier, select Deposit, then choose MatchPay from among your available methods*. First-time users can register through Join Now.
  • Registration requires email and phone verification. Once you’re verified you’ll have a MatchPay ID. Your MatchPay ID is case-sensitive and can’t be changed. Enter that ID in Bovada’s cashier to link the accounts.
  • Now create an Order: a request to buy credits. Enter your amount and select the payment services you can use. Bovada lists PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Apple Pay, Chime and Cash App among MatchPay’s methods.
  • MatchPay finds your Match – someone who wants to withdraw.
  • Once matched, pay your match using the payment details provided inside the trade.
  • Your Match receives your payment, confirms, and your deposit arrives in your Bovada cashier.

*It’s important to note that Bovada excludes MatchPay deposits from bonuses unless the particular offer expressly allows them. If you’ve chosen your deposit amount to qualify for an offer, discovering this afterward is an especially irritating way to begin.

Using MatchPay for Withdrawals

Withdrawing funds reverses the transaction: you sell credits, and another user pays you. In the Bovada, cashier select Withdraw, choose MatchPay and submit your request. The amount comes off your sportsbook balance; after approval, it becomes available for an Offer on MatchPay. (An Order buys credits. An Offer sells them. Remember those two labels and much of the interface starts making sense).

Enter how much you want to sell and how you want to receive payment. You can offer all the approved amount or a portion. Say you’re withdrawing $200 through Cash App. A matched buyer sends you $200. Open Cash App yourself and check that the money has arrived and is available before confirming receipt in MatchPay. The buyer saying they’ve paid is only half the transaction. Your confirmation needs to reflect what you can actually see in your account.

Bovada’s MatchPay withdrawal limits are from a $10 minimum to $2,000 max, with two withdrawals per calendar day. Like crypto, you can’t simply transfer your MatchPay credits into your bank account. You sell the credits for fiat, which you can then withdraw.

MatchPay Friction

MatchPay charges no fee for their service, and Bovada charges no fee. MatchPay doesn’t deduct a percentage from the trade: exchanging $100 means exchanging $100. That makes

Time, however, can be the pinch-point. Because your transaction requires a match, you need a trading partner to complete the transaction. Very infrequently, a match can’t be found. Though it isn’t a frequent occurrence, it highlights the fact that the availability of a trading partner is factor outside of your control. Which is why it’s always best to have more than one payment methods in your toolbox.

If the Trade Goes Wrong

Keep communication inside MatchPay. If someone asks you to send money to different payment details that weren’t supplied through the trade, MatchPay instructs you to cancel. They also warn against third parties claiming to be moderators. Trades involve the two matched users; someone appearing with special instructions is not part of that process.

Use the “Report a Problem” feature in Bovada if a transaction runs into trouble. Bovada sends the trade information and conversation to MatchPay support for review, with resolution estimated at approximately 48 hours. Lastly, keep your payment records. MatchPay may request transaction screenshots and account activity when investigating a dispute.
