Live Betting

Live-betting promotions are short-window offers attached to wagers placed after an event has started. The useful ones improve the payout, return part of a losing stake, award a Bonus Bet, or provide an ongoing reward on action a bettor already intended to place.

The useless ones create urgency, narrow the eligible markets, cap the boosted stake at pocket change, or push the bettor into a live parlay that would never have survived five seconds of thought without a promotional badge attached to it.

These offers also move quickly. A sportsbook may issue a live Profit Boost for one game, restrict it to selected customers, and remove it within hours. The four featured operators below are included because they currently publish or repeatedly use worthwhile live-promotion formats—not because every bettor is guaranteed to see the same token today.

The promotion should improve a live bet you already want. It should not manufacture a bet simply because the token expires before the game does.

Types of Live-Betting Promotions

Sportsbooks use different names for offers that perform substantially the same job. The terms attached to the token matter more than the branding.

📈

Live Profit Boost

A Profit Boost increases the net winnings of an eligible live wager by a stated percentage.

A 30% boost does not add 30% to the full return. It ordinarily adds 30% to the profit portion after subtracting the stake.

The token may be limited by sport, game, market, minimum odds, maximum odds, stake, bet type, or a narrow period during the event.

Live Odds Boost

An Odds Boost improves the price displayed for an eligible live market.

Some books issue a reusable token. Others display a prebuilt enhanced line directly on the live board as a special or Super Boost.

Check the ordinary market elsewhere before assuming the promoted line is genuinely better.

🧩

Live Parlay or SGP Boost

The boost applies to a live parlay, in-game Same Game Parlay, or SGPx combining selections from more than one game.

Terms commonly require a minimum number of legs and minimum odds for each leg or for the finished ticket.

A larger boost does not automatically overcome the sportsbook margin built into several correlated or heavily juiced legs.

🛡️

Live Bet Back or Insurance

The sportsbook returns some or all of a losing live wager as a Bonus Bet or promotional credit when the ticket meets the offer’s conditions.

The returned amount is not normally withdrawable cash. The Bonus Bet stake is also commonly excluded from the payout when the replacement wager wins.

Insurance may be restricted to one losing leg, one event, one market, or the first qualifying wager after opting in.

🎁

Live Bet-and-Get

Place a qualifying live wager and receive a Bonus Bet, reward credit, or promotional token after it settles.

Some versions pay the reward regardless of the result. Others require the qualifying wager to win, lose, or reach a minimum cumulative stake.

Cashout, voids, promotional funds, and bets below the minimum odds commonly disqualify the wager.

💰

Live Wager Rewards

An ongoing rewards program returns points, loyalty currency, FanCash, or another benefit on eligible settled wagers.

Unlike a one-game flash promotion, the reward may apply automatically to qualifying live cash bets without requiring a new opt-in every night.

The rate may depend on the odds, bet type, loyalty tier, or a temporary multiplier.

⏱️

In-Game Flash Promotion

The offer appears after the event begins and remains available for a few minutes, one quarter, one inning, or another short segment.

Flash promotions can include boosts, bet-back protection, next-score markets, or rewards triggered by events occurring during the game.

Their short life is the feature and the trap. There may be almost no time to compare the promoted price with another sportsbook.

🏁

Early-Win Promotion

The sportsbook settles the qualifying wager as a winner when a stated in-game condition occurs, even if the team later gives up the lead.

The promotion is usually attached before the event, but its value is determined by what happens live.

Read the exact trigger. A lead of one run, two goals, ten points, or another threshold may be required before early settlement applies.

What a Live Profit Boost Is Actually Worth

The percentage printed on the token applies to net profit, not the total payout. That distinction is easy to miss when the app emphasizes the larger boosted return.

Start With the Ordinary Profit

A $25 wager at -110 produces approximately $22.73 in ordinary profit when it wins.

Apply the Boost Percentage

A 30% Profit Boost adds approximately $6.82 to that $22.73 profit.

Add Back the Stake

The boosted winning return is approximately $54.55: the original $25 stake plus about $29.55 in total profit.

Respect the Maximum Stake

When the token has a $10 maximum, only the first $10 may receive the boost even if the sportsbook accepts a larger wager.

A 30% token is not automatically a 30% edge. It improves the payout on one result; the value still depends on the underlying price and the probability of winning.

The Terms That Decide Whether the Promotion Is Worth Anything

The percentage gets the banner. These restrictions determine the value.

💵

Maximum Boosted Stake

The boost may apply to only $5, $10, or $25 even when the sportsbook accepts a larger wager.

Compare the additional dollars available, not merely the advertised percentage.

📊

Minimum Odds

A token may require final odds of -200 or longer, +100 or longer, or another stated threshold.

In a live market, the odds can move through the threshold before the wager is accepted.

🎯

Eligible Markets

“Any live bet” may still exclude alternate markets, player props, partial-game markets, in-event parlays, or wagers unavailable in a particular state.

🧩

Minimum Parlay Legs

Live parlay promotions may require three or more legs, with each leg meeting its own minimum odds.

Adding a weak leg solely to unlock the token can erase the boost’s value.

⏱️

Expiration

A live token may expire at the end of the game, at a stated clock time, or within hours of being issued.

Expiration is not a reason to accept a bad price.

Opt-In Requirement

The qualifying wager may not count when it is placed before the bettor activates the promotion.

Check that the token is visible and switched on in the bet slip before submitting the wager.

💸

Cash-Only Requirement

Profit Boosts and rewards commonly exclude wagers funded with Bonus Bets, Bonus Funds, site credit, or another promotional balance.

✂️

Cashout Disqualification

A fully or partially cashed-out wager may lose the promotion, fail to earn rewards, or become ineligible for a later Bonus Bet.

↩️

Void and Push Treatment

Some operators return a token after a void or push. Others expressly state that it will not be reissued.

The difference matters for live markets prone to postponement, shortened games, and player-participation rules.

🗺️

State and Account Eligibility

Two customers watching the same game may receive different promotions because of state regulations, account history, loyalty status, or targeted eligibility.

🏆

Maximum Additional Winnings

The sportsbook may cap the extra profit even when the boosted wager would mathematically generate more.

1️⃣

One Token per Wager

Profit Boosts generally cannot be stacked with another boost, Bonus Bet, insurance token, or promotional credit.

Token Boosts and Prebuilt Boosted Markets Are Not the Same

A token lets the bettor choose from eligible live markets. A prebuilt boost gives the bettor one line selected by the sportsbook.

Live Promotion Token

The token appears in the account and can be attached to an eligible wager selected by the bettor.

It may offer more control over the game, market, price, and timing, although the terms can still narrow the choices.

Prebuilt Live Boost

The sportsbook publishes one enhanced in-game line, often labeled as a Boost, Super Boost, Special, or Featured Price.

The improved line may be legitimate, but the underlying selection was chosen by the sportsbook rather than the bettor.

Compare the Unboosted Market

Determine the normal price at the same book and compare the identical outcome elsewhere.

A promoted +120 is not impressive when another regulated sportsbook is already offering +125.

Check the Hold Around It

The sportsbook may improve one side while leaving the opposing side expensive or embedding substantial margin in a custom prop.

The promotional label does not prove the market is efficiently priced.

Why Live Parlay Boosts Need More Scrutiny

Sportsbooks like parlay promotions because the large displayed boost sits on top of a product that already carries substantial margin.

Every Required Leg Adds Failure Risk

A three-leg minimum means the ticket loses when any one of the three selections loses.

🔗

Correlation Is Priced by the Sportsbook

In-game SGP legs can be strongly related. The sportsbook controls how that relationship affects the finished price.

The Market Is Moving During Construction

One leg may suspend or reprice while the bettor is building the ticket, changing the final odds and promotion eligibility.

📐

The Boost May Not Cover the Embedded Margin

A 25% or 30% profit increase can improve the ticket without turning an overpriced parlay into a positive-value wager.

How to Evaluate a Live Promotion Before the Market Moves

Live offers are designed to compress the decision. A short process keeps the promotion from making the decision for you.

1

Read the Maximum Stake

Convert the boost percentage into the maximum additional dollars available.

A 50% boost on a $5 maximum is not automatically better than a 20% boost on a $50 maximum.

2

Check the Final Odds Rule

Confirm that the accepted price—not merely the price first tapped—meets the minimum or maximum odds requirement.

3

Compare Another Sportsbook

Check the same live market elsewhere before the suspension window closes.

The competing ordinary line may beat the promoted line.

4

Reject Unwanted Extra Legs

Do not add selections merely to satisfy a parlay-leg requirement or reach the minimum final odds.

5

Check the Cashout Rule

Know whether cashing out forfeits the boost, Bonus Bet, FanCash, insurance, or qualifying status.

6

Place the Bet Only If It Still Works Without the Token

The promotion should improve the wager’s economics. It should not be the only reason the wager exists.

Common Live-Promotion Mistakes

Most failed promotions are not mysterious. The bettor missed a mechanical requirement or let the promotion dictate the wager.

Placing the Bet Before Opting In

The sportsbook may refuse to count a wager placed before the promotion was claimed, even when the ticket otherwise meets every condition.

Using Bonus Funds

Many boosts and rewards require a real-money wager. Applying a Bonus Bet can remove the promotion or make the bet ineligible.

Falling Below the Minimum Odds

A live price can shorten between selection and acceptance. The accepted odds may no longer satisfy the token.

Cashing Out the Qualifying Bet

Cashout commonly disqualifies the wager from rewards, insurance, or loyalty credit.

Building an Ineligible Parlay

The ticket may contain too few legs, a leg below the minimum odds, a pregame selection inside a live-only SGP, or an excluded market.

Assuming the Token Lasts All Night

A token can expire during the game or at the end of a narrow promotional window.

A Promotion Does Not Increase the Betting Budget

Live promotions appear when the event is producing the most emotion and the least decision time. That makes account controls more useful, not less.

🎟️

Keep the Original Stake Size

A boost improves the possible profit. It does not make a larger stake affordable.

🛑

Do Not Chase With the Token

A live boost does not improve merely because earlier wagers on the game lost.

📱

Count Every Sportsbook

A different promotion in four apps can produce four wagers when the original plan called for one.

📊

Use Wager Limits

Cumulative and single-wager limits can stop a sequence of promoted live bets from expanding the session.

The sportsbook issued the token to create another wager. Use it only when another wager already belongs in the plan.

Live-Betting Promotion FAQs

These answers concern promotions offered by regulated U.S. online sportsbooks on wagers placed after an event begins.

What is the most useful type of live-betting promotion?

A flexible Profit Boost on an eligible straight live wager is generally easier to evaluate than a promotion requiring several parlay legs. Ongoing rewards on eligible cash bets can also provide value without forcing a wager into one named event.

Which sportsbooks offer Live Profit Boosts?

DraftKings currently publishes Live In-Game promotions and event-specific Live Profit Boosts. FanDuel explicitly offers Live Profit Boost tokens. BetMGM has issued live-only Odds Boost tokens for major events, although availability is account- and event-dependent.

Does Fanatics FanCash apply to live bets?

Fanatics calculates FanCash on eligible sportsbook wagers according to the stake and odds shown in the bet slip. Its published exclusions include promotional-credit, canceled, voided, cashed-out, and restricted wagers; they do not exclude a wager simply because it was placed live. The amount shown in the bet slip is controlling.

Does a 30% Profit Boost increase my entire payout by 30%?

No. It ordinarily increases the net profit by 30%. The original stake is then added back to calculate the total return.

Can I use a Profit Boost with a Bonus Bet?

Usually not. FanDuel expressly prohibits combining Profit Boosts with Bonus Bets or Bonus Funds. Other operators commonly impose the same restriction, but each token’s terms control.

Can a Live Profit Boost be used on a Same Game Parlay?

Sometimes. The token must specifically allow live parlays or in-event Same Game Parlays. FanDuel has offered live promotions permitting SGPs when every leg was a live selection from the named game. Other tokens may be straight-bet only.

What happens if the odds move before the live bet is accepted?

The accepted odds determine whether the bet meets the promotion’s minimum or maximum price. The sportsbook may ask you to accept the changed line, remove the token, or reject the wager when the new price is no longer eligible.

Will Cash Out cancel the promotion?

It often does. Fanatics excludes cashed-out wagers from FanCash. Bet-and-get, insurance, and Profit Boost terms at other books may also disqualify fully or partially cashed-out bets.

Will a voided live wager return my promotional token?

It depends on the sportsbook and offer. Caesars currently states that voided or pushed Profit Boosts from its welcome promotion are not reissued. Never assume a token will return without checking its terms.

Why does another bettor have a promotion that I cannot see?

Promotions may be restricted by state, account history, loyalty level, deposit or wagering behavior, eligibility segment, and the time the offer was claimed. BetMGM expressly tells customers to log in to see the promotions available to their account.

Are prebuilt live boosts always better than the normal line?

They should improve the sportsbook’s own ordinary price, but another regulated book may already offer a better line. Compare the identical market before placing the promoted wager.

Should I use every live promotion before it expires?

No. An unused token costs nothing beyond the opportunity to use it. A rushed losing wager costs the stake. Use the promotion only when an eligible live bet already fits the bankroll and betting plan.

Use the Promotion; Do Not Let It Use the Bet Slip

The strongest live promotions improve a straight wager, protect a limited amount of downside, or return an ongoing reward on action that was already justified. The weakest ones demand extra parlay legs, expire almost immediately, or offer a giant percentage on a tiny stake.

DraftKings and FanDuel stand out for clearly identified live Profit Boosts. BetMGM has a solid token system and periodically separates live boosts from its pregame offers. Fanatics provides a different kind of value through FanCash on eligible settled wagers and the option to exchange that currency for Bonus Bets or Profit Boosts.

Read the maximum stake, final-odds requirement, eligible market, expiration, Cash Out rule, and void treatment before the game speeds up. Then compare the boosted line with another regulated sportsbook.

A good live promotion improves the price of a good bet. It does not rescue a bad bet from being bad.
